At 99.5% nitrogen purity, HK-CMS-260 achieves a nitrogen production rate of 260 Nm³ per metric ton of CMS per hour, making it an ideal choice for industries requiring nitrogen purities ranging from 97% to 99.995%.
CMS separates air based on the principle of kinetic selectivity. At equilibrium, the adsorption capacity of CMS for oxygen and nitrogen is relatively similar. However, oxygen molecules diffuse through the narrow micropores much faster than nitrogen molecules. During the short adsorption cycle of a PSA process, oxygen is preferentially adsorbed while nitrogen remains in the gas phase and is collected as the product gas.
The PSA process operates using a continuous two-bed cycle.
Compressed and purified air passes through the CMS adsorbent bed. Oxygen molecules are selectively adsorbed, while nitrogen exits the system as high-purity product gas.
Once the adsorbent approaches oxygen saturation, system pressure is reduced. The adsorbed oxygen is released, regenerating the CMS for the next adsorption cycle.
By alternating between two adsorption beds—one adsorbing while the other regenerates—the PSA system continuously supplies nitrogen without external heating, resulting in excellent energy efficiency.
CMS-260 can also be regenerated through pressure swing regeneration or thermal regeneration by heating to 300–400°C with dry inert gas. The material demonstrates excellent thermal stability and maintains reliable separation performance at temperatures up to 300°C.
