Mining machinery – haul trucks, loaders (LHDs), drills, scalers, bolters, graders – operates in extreme environments. Underground mines face confined tunnels and high diesel particulate matter (DPM) concentrations. Surface mines face extreme dust, high altitudes (2,000–4,500 m), and year-round operation. Regulations include EPA Tier 4 Final, EU Stage V, MSHA (US), and ATEX (Europe). We provide validated aftertreatment solutions for 50 kW–2+ MW mining machinery.
Underground mines require near-zero emissions at the point of use; ventilation is costly. DPM is a carcinogen; NO₂ is immediately hazardous. Surface mines face dust, reduced oxygen, and temperature extremes (-40°C to +50°C). Systems deliver ultra-low emissions with rugged, serviceable designs.
Operation | Configuration |
Underground (LHDs, haul trucks, drills, bolters – MSHA/ATEX) | Engine → DOC → DPF → SCR → ASC → Tailpipe (flameproof/spark arrestor) |
Surface (haul trucks, graders, shovels – Tier 4 Final / Stage V) | Engine → DOC → DPF → SCR → ASC → Tailpipe |
Wall-flow SiC or cordierite. Filtration: >99% of elemental carbon. Electric regeneration (zero-combustion) for underground. Regeneration inhibit or parked regeneration for safety.
Cu-zeolite (175–500°C) for underground low-temp operation; vanadia for surface/high-sulfur fuel. Conversion efficiency: 90–95%. NH₃ slip <5 ppm underground.
Mandatory underground. Pt on alumina, reduces NH₃ slip <5 ppm.
MSHA/ATEX certified, flamepath joints, surface <150°C, explosion-resistant housing (10 bar+).
Oxygen sensor recalibration, higher DPF regeneration temp (+50–100°C), oversized DOC, turbo/ECU recalibration.
