HENTEK CAT Catalyst & Catalytic Converter Solutions

Non-Road (Machinery Emission Control) – Mining Machinery

Complete Emission Control Solutions for Underground & Surface Mining Equipment

Mining machinery – haul trucks, loaders (LHDs), drills, scalers, bolters, graders – operates in extreme environments. Underground mines face confined tunnels and high diesel particulate matter (DPM) concentrations. Surface mines face extreme dust, high altitudes (2,000–4,500 m), and year-round operation. Regulations include EPA Tier 4 Final, EU Stage V, MSHA (US), and ATEX (Europe). We provide validated aftertreatment solutions for 50 kW–2+ MW mining machinery.

The Mining Machinery Challenge

Underground mines require near-zero emissions at the point of use; ventilation is costly. DPM is a carcinogen; NO₂ is immediately hazardous. Surface mines face dust, reduced oxygen, and temperature extremes (-40°C to +50°C). Systems deliver ultra-low emissions with rugged, serviceable designs.

Our Mining Aftertreatment Architecture

Operation

Configuration

Underground (LHDs, haul trucks, drills, bolters – MSHA/ATEX)

Engine → DOC → DPF → SCR → ASC → Tailpipe (flameproof/spark arrestor)

Surface (haul trucks, graders, shovels – Tier 4 Final / Stage V)

Engine → DOC → DPF → SCR → ASC → Tailpipe

Core Component Technologies

Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF)

Wall-flow SiC or cordierite. Filtration: >99% of elemental carbon. Electric regeneration (zero-combustion) for underground. Regeneration inhibit or parked regeneration for safety.

Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR)

Cu-zeolite (175–500°C) for underground low-temp operation; vanadia for surface/high-sulfur fuel. Conversion efficiency: 90–95%. NH₃ slip <5 ppm underground.

Ammonia Slip Catalyst (ASC)

Mandatory underground. Pt on alumina, reduces NH₃ slip <5 ppm.

Flameproof / Spark Arrestor Enclosure

MSHA/ATEX certified, flamepath joints, surface <150°C, explosion-resistant housing (10 bar+).

High-Altitude Compensation

Oxygen sensor recalibration, higher DPF regeneration temp (+50–100°C), oversized DOC, turbo/ECU recalibration.

Key Advantages

Underground air quality focus

Electric DPF regeneration, regeneration inhibit, automatic engine derate if soot exceeds limits. Real-time DPM monitoring optional.

Flameproof / explosion-proof certification

MSHA/ATEX housing, precision flamepath joints, T3/T4 surface rating, explosion-tested.

High-altitude optimization

Higher DPF regeneration temp, oversized DOC, oxygen sensor compensation, turbo/ECU recalibration.

Extreme dust management

Heavy-duty pre-cleaners, pulse-cleaned filters, external DPF cleaning stations (2,000–4,000 hr intervals).

Low-load / intermittent operation

Electric pre-heater (eSCR), regeneration during high-load cycles, automatic idle-up if soot accumulates.

Remote mine telematics

Leaky-feeder/Wi-Fi (underground), satellite/cellular (surface). Monitors DPF soot, regeneration, SCR efficiency, NH₃ slip, temperatures. Predictive maintenance alerts.
