Honeycomb activated carbon is a specially engineered form of activated carbon manufactured from high-quality coal-based, coconut-based, or wood-based activated carbon powder. Through a molding process followed by high-temperature activation, the material is formed into a rigid monolithic structure with a regular array of parallel, open channels. This unique honeycomb configuration creates a large effective adsorption surface area—at least three times greater than conventional columnar activated carbon.
The product features a smooth, defect-free surface, uniform channel geometry, and excellent mechanical integrity. It is widely used in industrial waste gas treatment, air purification systems, and as a catalyst support. Compared with traditional packed-bed granular or pelletized activated carbon, honeycomb activated carbon delivers superior adsorption efficiency, significantly lower pressure drop, and faster adsorption-desorption kinetics.

Hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) is a powerful oxidizer used as a green propellant, a sterilizing agent (vaporized H₂O₂ for medical and space decontamination), and an oxidant in wastewater treatment. However, residual high-concentration H₂O₂ poses explosion risks, severe burns, and health hazards. While H₂O₂ spontaneously decomposes into H₂O and O₂ (2H₂O₂ → 2H₂O + O₂), this self-decomposition is extremely slow. The H₂O₂ destruction catalytic converter accelerates decomposition by orders of magnitude, reducing concentrations from thousands of ppm to below 1 ppm – the safe long-term exposure limit.
The highly developed microporous structure and large specific surface area provide outstanding adsorption capacity for volatile organic compounds (VOCs), odors, and hazardous gases. High-performance grades achieve iodine values of 800 mg/g or higher, with CTC adsorption values of 70–80%. Static benzene adsorption reaches 35–50%.
The straight, open-channel monolithic design allows unrestricted airflow with minimal resistance. At a gas velocity of 0.8 m/s and 600 mm bed depth, pressure drop is only 490 Pa, approximately 11 times lower than densely packed 4 mm columnar activated carbon, reducing fan energy consumption.
The short diffusion distance within the honeycomb channels accelerates adsorption and desorption, enabling faster saturation and regeneration cycles. This makes the product ideal for cyclic adsorption systems such as catalytic combustion units.
With compressive strength exceeding 0.9 MPa (axial) and 0.3 MPa (lateral), the rigid monolithic structure resists crushing under high gas velocities. The material also offers excellent resistance to acids, alkalis, and thermal stress.
Water-resistant honeycomb activated carbon undergoes an additional high-temperature firing process, allowing it to withstand humid environments, acidic gases, and alkaline conditions while maintaining structural stability.
Spent honeycomb activated carbon can be regenerated through thermal desorption, restoring adsorption capacity for multiple reuse cycles and significantly lowering long-term operating costs.

Honeycomb activated carbon is regenerated using thermal desorption. In industrial applications, heated air at 120–200°C passes through the adsorbent bed, desorbing captured VOCs. The concentrated gas stream is then directed to a catalytic combustion or solvent recovery system.
Under proper operating conditions, the material can withstand hundreds of adsorption-desorption cycles while maintaining excellent performance.
Actual service life depends on:
Using pre-filtration to remove particulates and maintaining humidity below 80% RH significantly extends service life. Water-resistant grades offer superior longevity in humid and corrosive environments.
